Keeping Busy in Wheathampstead

Located in Wheathampstead, one of the area’s most picturesque villages, you won’t be short of things to do and see when you visit Wheathampstead.

With a well documented history that dates back to pre-Roman times, there are plenty of historic sites and attractions in and around the area, including Shaw’s Corner the home of Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw, the Devil’s Dyke, St Helen’s Church, and John Bunyan’s Chimney.

The area also boasts its very own new forest in the making. The largest new native forest in the UK, Heartwood Forest will eventually be an 850 acre wood created in open fields with some 600,000 trees, plenty of wildlife meadows, and lots of pathways to explore. So, once you’ve enjoyed a delicious lunch at The Wicked Lady, make sure you pay this work-in-progress forest a visit and be part of history in the making.

Further afield in the historic city of St Albans, you’ll find all sorts of attractions, including the world famous Cathedral, the Verulamium Museum, Willows Activity Farm, and of course, plenty of shops. Once you’ve finished exploring, The Wicked Lady is located close enough to enjoy a delicious meal or refreshing drink, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
