Situated in the eerily-named Nomansland, this ancient pub was once a haunt of the Wicked Lady, a highwaywoman unmasked after her death as Lady Ferrers of Markyate. The Inn here only recently took her name, but Ferrers Lane crossing the common is a very real legacy of her notorious past.
